This is a snapshot of how X is adjusting to preschool:
Day 1: I miss you! I don't waaaant to go to preschool. (Giant tears. Quivering lip. Devastation.)
Day 2: I'm really going to miss you. What are you going to do while I am gone? (Watery eyes, quivery lip.)
Day 3: I think I'm going to miss you. We'll have play time and snack time and play time again, and then you'll come pick up me. (Sits down at the table at preschool and starts playing with a puzzle, no fussing.)
Day 4: I'll *probably* miss you.
